Transitional Arts + Craft

A new lease on life

After twelve years in their beloved (but dated) home and neighborhood, this family found themselves outgrowing their space as their kids got older and their needs evolved. With a desire to stay rooted in their community but unsure how to start the transformation, they turned to us to create a fresh vision for their home that maximized space, storage, and functionality without sacrificing comfort or style.

Key Features of the Redesign:

  • Maximized Space: The layout was reconfigured to make better use of the available square footage. Underutilized areas, such as the attic, corners and hallways, were transformed into functional spaces, including an expansive master suite with his + hers walk in closets, finished basement with rec room + 2 new bedrooms, built-in workstation, reading nooks, and extra storage.
  • Customized Storage Solutions: From sleek built-in cabinetry to cleverly concealed storage under stairs and in furniture, we prioritized creating organized, clutter-free spaces. Each family member now has dedicated storage for their belongings, ensuring the home stays tidy and functional.
  • Adaptable Design: Flexible spaces were introduced to accommodate the family’s evolving needs. A multi-purpose room serves as a guest room, playroom, or home office as required, while modular furniture allows for easy adjustments over time.
  • Enhanced Kitchen and Living Spaces: The kitchen was expanded and redesigned to better suit the family’s lifestyle, with an open-plan layout, more seating, and a central island for gathering. The living room was updated with durable, family-friendly finishes and a brighter, more modern or transitional style.
  • Modernized Bathrooms: Outdated bathrooms were redesigned with practicality and relaxation in mind, featuring double vanities, ample storage, and durable, low-maintenance materials to handle the demands of a growing family.
  • Thoughtful Design Details: A cohesive palette of warm neutrals and soft pops of color creates a welcoming atmosphere, while durable finishes like engineered hardwood floors and stain-resistant fabrics balance beauty and practicality.
  • Neighborhood Connection: Large windows and updated outdoor spaces, including a refreshed patio and garden, reinforce the home’s connection to the surrounding neighborhood, inviting the family to enjoy both their interior and exterior spaces.

This project redefined the home for a new phase of life, creating a beautiful transitional aesthetic, functional, and future-proof space that grows with the family while keeping them firmly rooted in the neighborhood they love.
