I’ve been redesigning homes for as long as I can remember. While other kids spent rainy days watching TV, I spent mine rearranging rooms in my parents’ house — refining layouts, imagining possibilities, and trying to make every space feel better than it did before. That instinct never left me.
My path into design has never been traditional. I carved my own route by staying endlessly curious, determined, and unwilling to accept “that’s just how it’s done.” Early in my career, I moved from real estate and supporting other design firms to taking on my first major project on my own: a massive stripped to the studs renovation, complete with an attic development and an addition – the kind of reno that leaves you wondering why you didn’t just build anew. It was a true “feet to the fire” moment, and it taught me more than any classroom ever could.
Wanting to understand every layer of how homes are built, I immersed myself in the construction world. I stepped into roles as a general contractor and project manager, worked closely with trades, and gained a deep respect for the craft behind a well-executed build. That experience is the foundation of how I design today: creative, intuitive, and grounded in practical reality.
I lead with a steady, centred presence. I listen deeply, see opportunities where others see limitations, and bring clarity and order to what can often feel like chaos. These qualities shape my design philosophy — and they’ve helped me earn the trust and respect of the trade community I collaborate with.
Outside of design, I’m inspired by movement, wellness, and adventure — free diving, travel, anything connected to water and sun. I’m also a mother to a teenage daughter, which gives me an even deeper understanding of how profoundly home influences daily life.
Design isn’t just my career; it’s my purpose. I’m here to create beauty, bring clarity, and make complex processes feel manageable. Through Maverick Design, I’m honoured to help people shape homes that feel intentional, cohesive, and deeply aligned with the way they live.

Where others saw a dated, dark cabin, Danielle Keogan envisioned a bright and timeless lakeside haven.
Project highlights:
- Transformed a gloomy lake house into a modern, light-filled retreat.
- Enlarged windows and replaced solid doors with glass to connect interior and nature.
- Discovered and restored an exposed brick fireplace for a clean, contemporary focal point.
- Selected durable, low-sheen wide-plank white oak flooring for longevity and lake-life practicality.

Lake houses, for me, are very nostalgic,” says Danielle. “I spent a lot of time understanding why I felt good in those spaces — and I always try to recreate that for my clients.
